Order of the Reaction
Is there a way to determine n just given the reaction? Or would they have to tell us in the problem.

Re: Order of the Reaction
You can determine the order of a reaction by looking at experimental data and how changing concentrations changes initial rates (such as in problem numbers 15.17 and 15.19). Other than this, I think they have to give you the order. I don't think you are able to tell just by looking at a reaction equation.

Re: Order of the Reaction
To find order you must use experimental data, like in lecture we used rates with different concentrations to calculate the order. You can't ever use the chemical equation to figure out order.

Re: Order of the Reaction [ENDORSED]
You can use the reaction to figure out order only if it is an elementary reaction.
