When we're trying to find the order of each reactant in a reaction, how exactly do we know which experiments we should work with and which ones we shouldn't? For example, when we're trying to solve for the order with respect to B, why can't we use experiments 1 and 3? We clearly see that the concentrations of B differ in those experiments. The book uses experiments 2 and 3, but does it matter? Can we use 1 and 3?

The way to find out which reactions to work with is only through looking at the experiments and finding experiments where one concentration changes and everything that is needed to be held constant is held constant. The book uses experiments 2 and 3 because only the concentration of B is changed here, and the concentration of C was already determined to not affect the rate (which explains why the concentration of C also changed form experiments 2 to 3, but it does not matter)
