In 7A.17 from the 7th edition, part c asks us to determine the value of the rate constant. In the examples from the book, it seemed like they just picked one of the experiments and plugged that into the rate law reaction and it worked. For 17 though, it seems like you have to choose “the right” experiment. How do you choose the right experiment?
If you have the correct rate law, rate=k[A][B]2[C]2, then any experiment should give you the rate constant, the differences should be minimal decimal values if anything. The solutions manual solves for the rate constant using two different experiments showing that either work, so just check over the values youre plugging in and you should be good using any experiment!
For 7A.17, they just happened to choose the first experiment and plugged in the values to get the rate constant k. All the experiments should get you approximately the same k value.
