what is the difference between zero and first order reaction rates?

A zero order reaction means that any change in the concentration does not affect the rate. A first order reaction means that any change in the reactant concentration will lead to the same change in the rate (concentration doubles means rate will double)

zero order reactions do not depend on the initial concentrations while 1st order reactions are directly proportional to the concentrations

The rate of reaction in a zero order reaction is not dependent on the concentration of the reactant, whereas the rate of reaction in a first order reaction is directly proportional to the concentration of reactant.

Another way to tell the difference between zero and first is that for a zero order reaction, the plot of [Reactant] vs t is a straight line graph while for a first order reaction, the plot of ln[Reactant] vs t is a straight line graph.

Are zero order reaction rates included in the rate law?
