instantaneous and unique rate
is the instantaneous rate different from the unique rate or are they the same thing?

The average rate of reaction is an average rate which is calculated by taking the change in concentration over a time period. This is just an approximation of the reaction rate in the interval. It does not mean that the reaction has this rate throughout the time interval or even at any instant during that time. The instantaneous rate of reaction, shows a more accurate value. The instantaneous rate of reaction is defined as the change in concentration of a very small time interval.

When looking at a graphical representation, you can see that there are many places where the instantaneous rate of reaction can be calculated. However, when calculating the rate, we only look at the start of this graph. Essentially, we are ignoring the reverse reaction and focusing only on the forward reaction.

There are 4 different things you're looking at here:(1) Average Rate of Reaction, (2) Unique Average Rate of Reaction, (3) Instantaneous Rate of Reaction, (4) and Unique Instantaneous Rate of Reaction
Average Rate of Reaction: The reaction rate calculated by measuring the change in concentration of a reactant over a finite time interval, divided by that time interval and hence an average of the changing rate within that interval
Unique Average Rate of Reaction: The average rate of change in the concentration of a reactant or product divided by its stoichiometric coefficient in the balanced equation (Always positive)
Instantaneous Rate of Reaction: The slope of the tangent line to a graph of concentration against time
Unique Instantaneous Rate of Reaction: The instantaneous rate of change in the concentration of a reactant or product divided by its stoichiometric coefficient in the balanced equation

Unique rates are always divided by the stoichiometric coefficients of either the reactant/product in question.
The instantaneous rate is determined by calculating the slope of the graph of concentration over time.
Instantaneous unique rate is determined by the instantaneous rate of change in the concentration of a reactant or product divided by its stoichiometric coefficient in the balanced equation

The unique rate has more to do with their relationship with each other like a product with a reactant.
The instantaneous rate is the tangent line when their is a change.
