Initial Rates

Postby Erik Buetow 1F » Sun Mar 01, 2020 9:25 pm

For the reaction to determine k or n, will we always be given initial concentrations and rates? Or will we need to solve for them?

the only way to determine reaction order is through experiment so i believe we will always be given initial concentrations and rates

They're going to give you enough to solve the problem. Most of the time it will be concentrations and rates, sometimes they might give you k and n and have you solve for something else, just be ready for anything.

If the question is asking to solve for k and n using through initial rates, then you would have to have concentrations and initial reaction rates given to you so that you can find k and n by comparing how changes in concentration affect the changes in initial reaction rates.
