Catalysts

Postby carolineselliott2D » Wed Mar 13, 2024 8:15 pm

Can the concentration of a catalyst impact the rate of zero-rate reactions?

No, the concentration of a catalyst does not impact the rate of zero-order reactions. In zero-order reactions, the rate is constant and does not depend on the concentration of the reactants. It is determined by factors such as the presence of a catalyst and temperature, but once the reaction is proceeding, changing the concentration of the catalyst will not affect the rate.

Hope this helps!

Hi Caroline,
Catalysts do affect the rate of a reaction, but changing its concentration will not do anything to zero order reactions as their rate is independent of concentration changes in the reactants.
