How does finding the half life of a reaction correlate to the rate order?

To find the half life you simply plug in 0.5 for the final concentration and 1 for initial for the formula for the equations of any rate orders.

I believe that you need to know the order to know which rate law to use, and then you find the half life by using the initial concentration.

Half life equations differ based on rate order. The half life equation for a zero order reaction is different from the half life equation for a first order or second order equation.

Each rate order has different corresponding half-life equation.

Zero order reaction: half-life= [A]o/2k
*1st order reaction: half-life=ln2/k
2nd order reaction: half-life=1/k[A]o

*Note that the 1st order half-life does not depend on the initial concentration of the reactant.
