1/2 Life

Can someone explain how we determine the reaction order when talking about 1/2 life?

There's different expressions you can use to find the half-life. For first order reactions, it is 0.693/k. For second order it's 1/(k[A]). For zero order (uncommon) it is [A]initial/2k.

Each reaction order has its own half life formula, which are given on the constants and equations sheet.

You can determine it from the half-life equation given on the sheet. Each order has its specific formula and then you basically just solve for X.
