Solvent Choice

Postby laurence14b2f » Sun Mar 17, 2024 11:28 pm

Hey folks! Can someone discuss the impact of solvent choice on the rate of a first-order reaction, and why certain solvents are preferred? Thanks!

A solvent choice has an impact on the rate of first order reaction because it affects the solubility, concentrations, and binding/interactions between molecules. For example if a reactant is more soluble, that will cause a higher concentration of reactant molecules. A polar solvent will reduce the energy.
