half life

Postby Michelle Lee 2E » Sat Mar 03, 2018 10:09 pm

In Friday's lecture, we discussed experimentally making concentrations high so we would only have to deal with the reactant with the lowest concentration. Doing so helps us simplify finding rates and rate constants and the orders of the reactants. Would this experimental process be valid with half life equations? How would we deal with half life equations for multiple reactant reactions?

Half-life deals with finding the time it takes one reactant to decompose to half of its original mass, so there cannot be "multiple reactant" half-life problems.

Im assuming that you would treat each element individually in that case.
