Is it possible to have fractional rate constants? Should we round up/down to the nearest whole number or do we just take the natural log and solve for the rate constant?

Yes, it is possible to have fractional rate constants. Most rate constants are going to be a decimal, so I would suggest just rounding for significant figures.

In this class, you will need to round up, but they do exist as decimals. For the purpose of the class and the exam, just round everything up or down accordingly.
