ions and reaction orders

ions and reaction orders

do ions not contribute to reaction orders? If so, why not?

Hey! I am pretty sure they do? Was there a specific example you were thinking of? Because unless they are an intermediate and aren't included in the reaction mechanism, they should contribute to order.

Yes, anything that is not an intermediate contributes to the order. Intermediates do not show up in the overall reaction.
