How would you go about finding the equation to use for this problem?

This problem states that it is a first order decomposition of SO2Cl2, so you know that the only reactant is SO2Cl2 because that's what decomposition means. All parts of the question don't actually require the use of a complete chemical equation for the decomposition, so you don't actually need to figure out what it decomposes into. With the knowledge that SO2Cl2 is the only reactant, you can apply all of the first order reaction equations.
