How does half life of a reaction relate to kinetics?

The half-life of a reaction is the amount of time it takes for the initial concentration of half. It is related to kinetics with the equation t(1/2)=ln(2)/k where k is the reaction rate constant within a first order reaction.

The equation for the half life of a reaction can be derived from its integrated rate law. The rate of the reaction has a direct effect on the half life of the reaction.

Half life is inversely proportional to reaction rate. The larger the rate constant k, the shorter the half life.

The larger K is, the shorter the half life is. They are inversely related.

First order reaction: t0.5 = 0.693/k
Second order reaction: t0.5 = 1/(k * A0)

Half life is the time needed for concentration to fall to half its initial value. Half life is independent of initial concentration but is inversely related to the rate constant.
