Third Order Reactions

Postby Nick Fiorentino 1E » Sat Mar 14, 2020 9:34 am

Will we be asked to assess third order reactions on the final? There are a few assigned homework problems which involve them. I think I remember Dr. Lavelle saying we wouldn't address them in this class, but there are assigned problems involved third order reactions

I'm pretty sure third order reactions won't be on the exam.

Yeah since they are so rare, they will most likely not occur and will most likely not show up on any problems

Since Lavelle said he's making the final short and straightforward I don't think he's going to have third order reactions on the exam

They are very unlikely so I believe Prof. Lavelle mentioned it not being something we need to focus on in this course.

Lavelle said that for this class we will not have to know the equations for them, as they are not as common as 0/1/2 order reactions.

since we didn't really go over them in lecture I doubt they'd show up on the final.

Which assigned problems require integrated rate laws above 2nd order?

I don't think third order reactions will be covered on this exam. We'll only cover 0-2 order reactions.

Most likely not since these type of reactions are rare/ hardly ever happen.
