Achieve # 12 Weeks 2-4

Postby 506002081 » Sun Oct 29, 2023 5:29 pm

Hello,

How do you go about part a? I submitted the values that are in the question, 1064nm that I converted into 1.064 x 10^-6 m, and I put this on the denominator of E= hc/wavelength. I then converted my answer to eV but it still says its wrong.

How do you solve this?

You have to subtract this value by the experimentally measured energy. So basically, 1.165 EV - 0.137 EV. The key term is electron affinity which is the difference between the incident radiation and the experimentally measured energy.

Hi!
After you convert to Ev you need to find electron affinity which is incident photons - E which should be 1.165-0.137.
