Re: Final Grade
Lavelle looks at all the grades and then he decides what is a fair A, B, C, etc. However, no one's grade will go down, only up. For example, he might decide a solid B is an 80%, and thus he would scale everyone's grade up 5%. However, he will not scale the grades down in any situation.
Re: Final Grade
It includes the discussion in Chemistry Community, weekly homework, midterm, and final grade. Your total point will be 500. You can find more detailed information from your class syllabus.

Re: Final Grade
From Lavelle's website:
"Each test and exam has a total score but is not assigned a grade. Only at the end of the class
when the class average score (out of 500 points) is known are final grades assigned. This class
does not use a curve. Group learning (Chemistry Community, Study Groups, Peer Learning, etc.)
is encouraged. 50% or higher is required to pass with a C- or higher."

Re: Final Grade
From the syllabus, we know the class is curved but it can only end up helping you. 50% or higher will be a C.
Re: Final Grade
Our final grade is calculated on a point system (specifically 500 points). Take a peak at the syllabus posted for more information.
