1B.7 (sixth edition)

When given wavelength and moles of atoms, how do I find energy emitted by that atom? specific question asks to find energy emitted by 1.00 mol of sodium atoms emitting light at a wavelength of 589 nm, but i'd prefer a response with the procedure instead of the answer to the specific question.

First, you would have to find the frequency using the speed of light (since you are given the wavelength).
Then, you would plug in the frequency and multiply it by Planck's constant to find the energy in a mole of photons.
And then you would multiply that number by Avogadro's number to find how much energy was released by a mole of sodium atoms.
I'm not totally sure if this is what you were asking for, but hope its helpful :)
