### Rydberg Equation

When using the Rydberg Equation to find out the initial and final (n) values of energy for an electron during the emission of energy, is the equation: v=R[(1/n initial)^2-(1/n final)^2] or the opposite?

I would say not to use this equation because he doesn’t like it. Instead use: E= ((-hR)/(n2)^2)-((-hR)/(n1)^2) and then get whatever you’re looking for alone. However this will only work for the Hydrogen atom so read the question carefully before starting. Hope this helps (:
