e=hv used for particles?

Can E=hv be used only for electromagnetic radiation? Or can it also be applied to particles?

It is only used for electromagnetic radiation, E= 1/2 (m)(v)^2 is used for particles

E=hv can only be used for Electromagnetic radiation (light). To find the energy for other particles, use the kinetic energy equation: KE=(1/2)mv^2 since other particles have mass. If you want to find the wavelength for light, use λ=c/v; for particles with mass use the De Broglie equation: λ=h/p

E=hv can be used for the energy of a photon, so if you think of light as acting like a particle rather than a wave you can use that equation.

My understanding is that it is only applicable to photon energy for electromagnetic waves.

You can only use it for light because the v in E=hv refers to frequency, which most large particles do not show.

Can some one explain to me how to utilize avagrado's number? Is it usually utilized as a conversion for photons are there other ways to use this number?

Avagrado's number is used when working with moles, so what the professor taught Week 1. For E=hv, the constant that is used is Plank's constant.

E=hv gives you the energy per photon, so this equation is specific to electromagnetic radiation.
