Scratch paper during the exam
Hey guys, just saw Prof's email about the exam and he said we "can write on the front and back of the Constants and Equations, and Periodic Table if they want (for their rough work)." Are we able to have more sheets of scratch paper or just those 2 sheets?

My TA said we can have scratch paper, but you should probably confirm with your TA.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the test policies for the midterm would depend on your TA !

Re: Scratch paper during the exam
I believe based on what the email from today meant, we should be allowed to have scratch paper outside of the equations sheet and the periodic table. However, we will be required to show the TA the front and back side of the paper to confirm that it is blank. Ultimately it is probably up to you TA, though.

I thought we could only write on the two papers we are supposed to print out, but I'm sure each TA has their own policy.
Re: Scratch paper during the exam
I think as long as you show the front and back of the paper to the TA, you should be able to use it. But it depends on your TA, so ask.

My TA said you can use the front an back of the constants and periodic table sheets and as much scratch paper as you need as long as you show the front and back of every paper before the exam begins.

Re: Scratch paper during the exam
It does depend on the TA. There are some that are only willing to give you the back of the periodic table and the formula sheet. However, there are others, like my TA, that said to show him the piece of paper before to make sure there is no previous writing and he will allow us to use that paper. Either way just to make sure, email your TA and ask them before the exam.

Hi! I agree with other post replies - check with your TA about their policy. It would be in your best interest to know ahead of time, so email them ASAP!

Hi! I believe that as long as you show the front and back of the scratch paper you are using to your TA before you begin the exam, you will be allowed to use it. However, every TA has different policies, so you should definitely check with yours beforehand.

Re: Scratch paper during the exam
It totally depends on your TA so I would shoot them an email asking whether or not that is fine, but I also think that as long as you show them that your piece of paper is blank on both sides and you aren't cheating you should be fine.

Re: Scratch paper during the exam
My TA said that scratch paper is okay so long as you have the amount you need beforehand and show them the front and back of each paper to ensure there's no writing beforehand on any of them. However, you might need to ask your TA specifically because they might say otherwise. I'd say check just in case before it's too late.

Re: Scratch paper during the exam
I think we are allowed scratch paper as long as the TA can see it when you write. The paper should be visible on the zoom call.
Re: Scratch paper during the exam
We should be allowed to write on the equations sheet and the periodic table, but it would be safer to check with your TA's first.

Yes, I think you should be fine if you have some scratch paper as long as it is visibly blank, but I would check with the TA first just to be safe.

my ta said that it was fine just as long as they can see what you're writing!

It should be okay, just make it clear what you are using and display it well on your webcam.

Re: Scratch paper during the exam
I was confused with this too, we asked our TA during discussion and he said he was okay with us having extra scratch paper out. I would definitely email yours just to be sure.
