Connection to E = mc^2

I know this is called the Einstein equation, but I always thought Einstein was know for E = mc^2. What is the relationship between these two equations?

I'm sorry, I'm a little confused on what you're asking. What other equation are you referring to in comparison to E=mv^2?

Hi!
In one of Professor Lavelle's module videos (specifically in the Wave Properties of Electrons and the DeBroglie Equation one), he talked about how E = mc^2 was also equal to E = mvc [which is mass*velocity*the speed of light] and how that was also equal to E = pc [which is momentum*the speed of light]. You can then use the E = mvc and E = pc equations with the Einstein equation, E = hv.
