Slow reaction vs fast reaction

Postby Miya Eberlein 1J » Fri Feb 19, 2016 12:54 am

How can we tell when a reaction is fast, or when it is too slow to be important? How can we tell which step is slow?

The question will tell you if the reaction is fast or slow. Just looking at the written form of a chemical reaction without any data will not tell students which is faster so it will be specified

I think you can figure it out if you are given reactions that are at equilibrium. If it's at equilibrium, assume it's a fast step. Otherwise, the question will say if it's a fast or slow step.
