### Molecularity

Can someone clarify what exactly molecularity is.

Molecularity refers to the number of molecules involved in an elementary step. For example, for 2 molecules colliding to form product, the step is considered bimolecular.

Molecularity is the number of atoms/ molecules that are interacting as reactants. For example, a reaction 2A --> B is bimolecular because 2 atoms/molecules of A must react to form B. Similarly, A + 2B --> C is trimolecular because one molecule of A and two molecules of B are reacting to form your product.

Molecularity affects the order of the reaction as well- bimolecular reactions are second order, unimolecular is first order, etc.
