Slow Step
Are we going to be asked to identify the slow step in a given reaction, or will this information be given to us in the problem?

Re: Slow Step
I don't think this information will be given to us. During class we learned that the slow step if what determines the overall rate for the reaction, so we should be able to pinpoint that step.

Re: Slow Step
Given a rate law we could identify the slow step out of a list of steps because we know that it is the rate determining step so the law will be based ooff of its reactants.

Re: Slow Step
On finals in previous years there has been questions where it is not given, I've heard, but because the slow step determines the overall rate law we should be able to figure it out with the given information if it is not given.

Re: Slow Step
With most examples, the slow step should be identified. However, if we're given the rate law, we should be able to pinpoint the step out of a list based on this information.
