I just wanted to ask, when the book or the final asks you to find the reaction rate for a substance, which reaction rate (average, instantaneous, or unique) do we presume to use?

Unless the problem specifies that it is average rate, in general, rate is instantaneous.

Usually instantaneous since for graphs we're comparing the concentration vs time. we usually find a concentration at a specific moment in time.

If it says average rate, then it is average. If it just says rate, then they are referring to the instantaneous rate.
