### Intermediates in Rate Law

Do you include intermediates in the rate laws for elementary steps in reaction mechanisms?

No if something is an intermediate it is created and used up within the reaction steps and therefore I do not believe it should be present in a rate law.

intermediates never are included in the rate law. however, catalysts are always included when present.

No, they are not included because they are not present in the original reactants or in the final products.

I believe if you're only trying to write out the rate for an elementary step it needs to be there.

Definitely won't be there for the full reaction though.
