### Steady State Approach

Can someone explain the concept behind the steady state approach? Why do chemical engineers use lasers?

Reactants are put into a mixture, and the moment the reaction starts, we measure the speed of the reaction at that specific, nearly instantaneous time point and then assume that this is the reaction rate for the reaction.
However, we don't necessarily need to know this for the final, since we can use the preequilibrium approach instead.
