Quiz 3
Hi I'm wondering what will specifically be on the next quiz or up what pages from the course reader will it entail?

Re: Quiz 3
I think quiz 3 will contain the parts of kinetics that were not covered in quiz 2. This includes the Arrhenius equation. It should also include the sections of organic chemistry we have covered so far in lecture.

Re: Quiz 3
My TA said that the following topics will be covered on the quiz: Arrhenius equation, naming, constitutional isomers, energy profiles, and Sn2 mechanisms.

My TA also said we should know the difference between nucleophiles vs electrophiles and that we do not need to now functional groups for the quiz.

Re: Quiz 3
Generally, Professor Lavelle's quizzes cover everything from where we left off last page (so, this quiz's "fair game material" starts on page 74) and ends on the Friday the week before the quiz, aka tomorrow's lecture.

Re: Quiz 3
My TA mentioned that it will cover whatever we end off on in ochem on Friday as well as the last part of kinetics (i.e. Arrhenius Equation).

Re: Quiz 3 [ENDORSED]
Professor Lavelle has posted what specifically will be covered on the quiz (course reader pages 74-96) along with the problems we should be attempting to help us as preparation for the exam.

Dr Lavelle said that the last couple sections of kinetics will be on it. He posted exactly what's covered in another post.

Re: Quiz 3
The kinetics stuff should only be like the last couple concepts like the Arrhenius equation.

Re: Quiz 3
Where does quiz 3 cover up to in the homework questions? Someone said constitutional isomers are included which would basically mean all of chapter 1 but Dr. Lavelle said that it won't cover all of chapter 1.

Quiz 3 should cover the problems in the book that start going over activation energy all the way to the end. The homework problems for organic chem are listed in the course reader.

Re: Quiz 3
In addition to the pages in the course reader that Dr. Lavelle (and an earlier comment) specified, he also said that the concepts that will be quizzed are kinetics (Reaction profiles, Arrhenius equation and calculating activation energies), thermodynamics and kinetics of organic reactions, and hydrocarbons.

Re: Quiz 3
So does that mean that all of chapter 1 will be on the test then? I'm asking because attached shows what Lavelle's email said which sounds like all of chapter 1 will not be included. I'm simply asking if I should know how to do all problems listed for chapter 1 in the course reader (1-6, 9-17, and 21-29)
