Will a catalyst appear in the overall reaction or the rate law?

Catalysts increase the k value in the rate law by lowering the activation energy of the reaction. They do not show up when writing the overall reaction and are not directly included in the rate law, only indirectly by changing the k value.

Catalysts don't show up in the rate law because they are usually 0th order. Because they are not used up in a reaction, their concentration doesn't change the rate of a reaction and so it doesn't show up in the rate law.
