what would make one recognize that the equation is needed?

When you want to find k, A, Ea, or sometimes T, when you have other parameters. But since there are many forms of the equation it can be hard to tell

The Arrhenius equation can be used to find pre-exponential factor, the rate constant, activation energy, or temperature based on what information given in the question.

The most common instance that I have seen the Arrhenius equation used is when given two rates of reactions at different temperatures, you can use the given information to solve for the activation energy of both of the rate constants but of course whenever given any one of the factors: temperature, activation energy, or the rate constants you can manipulate the equation to solve for any one of those variables.
