Catalysts

Postby Peter Nguyen 2I » Sat Mar 16, 2019 9:48 pm

Are there any common catalysts we should know?

I think that it is better to just know the rule that a catalyst is something that appears in the beginning and end of the reaction (is not consumed, and is not an intermediate).

You should also know that a catalyst doesn't appear in the overall reaction.

Catalysts are at the beginning and end of a reaction, and are not shown in the overall reaction, but can they be in the overall rate law?

Catalysts are not used up in the reaction. Rather, they just lower the activation energy of the reaction.
