Activation energy is the amount of energy that is required to bring the energy level of the reactants to the energy level of the transition state. In other words, this is the energy required to get the reaction going. The free energy of activation is the Gibbs free energy, even though this is not explicitly stated.

Hi! Activation energy is the minimum amount of energy required for a reaction to occur. Free energy of activation is the difference in free energy (deltaG) between reactants and products. Hope this helps!
