Free Energy of Activation

Postby Carolina Gomez 2G » Sat Mar 13, 2021 9:49 pm

In the kinetics outline it states:
"Understand the difference between activation energy and free energy of activation."
What is the free energy of activation?

I think it refers to Gibb's Free energy, though I might not be right.

Activation energy is the energy needed to start a reaction and free energy of activation is gibbs free energy.

Free energy of activation is Gibbs free energy, which is the free energy difference between the transition state of a reaction and the ground state of the reactants.

free energy is gibbs
activation energy is the energy required to start a reaction
