"Poison a catalyst"

Postby Alyssa Cheung-2J » Sun Mar 17, 2024 11:16 am

What does it mean to "poison a catalyst"? Does this play a role when solving problems or being able to answer conceptual questions?

It would not be invovled in solving a numerical problem, but is an idea biologically, a catalyst in the body gets poisined when a substance that binds the catalyst does not disassociate, or changes the catalyst leaving it unable to catalyst another reactant.

It means to introduce a substance that inhibits or deactivates the catalyst, which would reduce its ability to do the reaction. This could mean something blocking the site or a chemical reaction that changes the catalyst. Its more important for conceptual understanding.
