On chapter 15.14 it says "a catalyst has no effect on the equilibrium composition. both forward and reverse reactions are accelerated on the catalyzed path,leaving th equilibrium constant unchanged." Does it mean the catalyst has no effect on K?
A catalyst won't affect the equilibrium constant k, which is the ratio of products to reactants when a reversible chemical reaction reaches equilibrium at a given temperature. However, because catalysts increase the rate of a reaction, it can affect rate constant k. Be cognizant of which k constant is involved in the problem.
