Re: Adsorption vs. Absorption
absorption is the process where a fluid thing is dissolved by a liquid or solid thing; adsorption is where the atoms of a substance kinda hang out on top of another thing, creating a surface tension / cover thingy

Re: Adsorption vs. Absorption
Absorption is the process in which a fluid is dissolved by a liquid or a solid (absorbent). Adsorption is the process in which atoms, ions or molecules from a substance (it could be gas, liquid or dissolved solid) adhere to a surface of the adsorbent.

Re: Adsorption vs. Absorption
Adsorption and Absorption differ in how they function and the state of the species involved. The above answers explain it well! But, why is it important to understand the difference between the two?

In the last lecture he mentioned that reactants sit on the surface of a catalyst (adsorption) because catalysts are usually solid but other than that I'm not really sure how much we need to know about this topic
Re: Adsorption vs. Absorption
How can we easily identify adsorption or absorption? What kind of information is need to be certain?
