Postby Melissa Solis 1H » Wed Mar 03, 2021 2:41 pm

Can someone please explain what prof. Lavelle meant by "fast enzymes"?

A fast enzyme has a higher rate constant (k). This means that it is able to convert substrate to product faster.

Is this section still relevant to this year? I see that there is an asterisk next to the section title. Does that mean we don't have to know about enzyme reactions?

In the Arrhenius equation, there is the Ea variable which is influenced by enzyme activity. Therefore, a faster enzyme would increase the k value more.

Fast enzymes have high k values, which means they convert substrate to products faster than enzymes with lower k values.

Fast enzymes are essentially enzymes that have a higher k value. This in turn causes there to be a quicker production of products

They have higher k values and speed up the reaction even more. hope this helps:)

Fast enzymes have higher k values and cause lower activation energies.

Hi! Fast enzymes have a higher rate constant value and therefore create a faster production of products.
