Rate Law Graphs

Postby Lucas Vu 2G » Thu Mar 14, 2024 6:03 am

What are general trends that separate the graphs of zero, first and second order? Also, how would the graph of a higher order rate reaction differ from those of the defined rate law orders and would we be expected to distinguish between them?

All of the graphs are linear, however, they graph different things. For the zero-order, time vs [A] is being graphed. For the first order, time vs ln[A] is being graphed. For the second order, time vs 1/[A] is being graphed.

The graphs also look different, one has a negative linear slope, one has a positive linear slope, and the other two are exponential (also positive and negative).
