Rate laws are determined experimentally, so they will be given. You cannot determine rate law from chemical equation unless it is an elementary reaction.

They are determined according to experimental data.

what do you mean by elementary equation?

Rate laws are experimentally determined as they depend on the unique values of k (which varies depending on the reaction) and the concentrations of reactants that are involved.

If you're talking about the rate law or the integral rate laws, we need to use both calculus to derive the equation, as well as experimental data to find the values for the rate law for a chemical reaction. So, as Dr. Lavelle went over in his lectures, he explained how to find the integral rate laws using calculus. I'd recommend you go back and rewatch them if you don't understand (but to be honest: it's not really necessary o know the calculus and derivations imho). From there, you use experiments to find what order the reaction is dependent on, based on the concentration of reactants in a reaction. You set everything as super high concentrations except one species, and look how that species changes and affects the rate by plotting it against ln[A] or [A] or 1/[A].

You determine these through experimental data. For example a question will provide you with numbers and information in order to calculate the rate law.
