why do we consider NADH in the formulation of ATP?

This is much more biological, but in relatively simple terms, the energy created by breaking the H off of NADH is used to drive the ATP reaction. :)

NADH is involved in the cellular respiration pathway to produce ATP and is involved when NAD gains a hydrogen atom to create the biphosphoglycerate molecule (the NAD also abandons its inorganic phosphate).

NADH is oxidized in cellular respiration to send electrons through the electron transport chain which is on the inner membrane of mitochondria. The electrons drive channels that sends H+ through to the other side of the membrane and as the H+ concentration increases, these hydrogen ions try to dissolve back through the membrane. A rotating protein is driven by this flow like how hydropower works and ATP formation is powered.
