14C and CL

Since Spring course planning was just released on MyUcla, I was wondering if people were planning on taking 14C and 14CL at the same time, or if it is recommended to wait until after completing 14C?

I think that I'm going to take Chem 14C and BL at the same time because we will have covered Chem 14B material. But I'm not sure if you need to have taken C to succeed in CL.

I haven't taken either so I'm really just reciting what I've heard from my upperclassman so take it with a grain of salt. It's definitely possible to take C and CL concurrently since they cover the material again in lab but if you feel like you need a more in-depth background with the topics, most people would recommend to take them separately. I'm assuming you're taking B and BL concurrently right now? If you are, you may want to consider how you're handling these classes together right now and how different it may be if these classes are harder. For me, I'm taking B and BL together right now and I don't think I would be able to take C and CL together. Again, not really talking from personal experience but I hope this helps.

To the girl asking about the difference between 14C and CL: CL is the second lab course for the 14 series. You have to take it either at the same time or after completing 14C.

I have heard people take 14BL and C together, and take 14CL and D together. It obviously depends on the person but this is what I've heard works best from upperclassmen.

I am planning on taking Chem 14C and Chem 14BL in the spring. I think I will take CL over the summer.

Would you guys say that we should finish the chem series for sure by the end of our second year? I am concerned about getting all the classes in for the series in just a couple more quarters!
