Same! Aiming for an A but worried for how the final will go... I wonder if he does any grade adjustments at the end of the quarter.

Hi! I think a lot of us are in the same boat, and probably even a bit more stressed now that it is close to finals now. :( I just want to say that you got this! There's still some time to study before finals, and you will do great!! :)

I'm worried about my grade because I have no idea what to expect. Good luck on studying to you all!

I totally understand where you're coming from. What helps for me is focusing on comprehending the material instead of thinking about the letter grade or score percentage. I find that the more I think about grades, the more I get in my head about the exam! Good luck to everyone in their studies :)

I am also starting to worry about my grade. I also don't like how there isn't anywhere we can check what grade we have in the class currently. I am not used to that.

There is a way to check your grade! Go to the grades section of the CCLE site. There you will see all the points you got. Add up all the points (you will have to add in the extra 5 points of chem community for this week and what you think you got for the final) and divide out of 500. This is your grade!

This is the breakdown of the grade
Sapling - 50 pts
Chemistry Community - 50 pts
Midterm 1 - 110 pts
Midterm 2 - 110 pts
Final - 180 pts --> this is now 170 pts possible.
Total 500 pts

This might not be too helpful now but maybe if you are taking chem 14b next quarter it will be then.

It’s common to worry about grades, especially in classes that place a lot of weight on midterms and the final exam. Just make sure to stay on top of your textbook homework and readings. This should give you some relief, and specially when Dr. Lavelle consolidates the material during lecture.

I wish there was a way to check our grade instead of having to calculate it ourselves, I don't always trust my own math lol.

If I'm being one hundred percent honest, I have anxiety for every class I've ever taken at UCLA. Something about college and proving your worth via exams has always been nerve wracking for me. One exam does not define you. I just keep the end goal and my future in mind. I learned to always embrace the stress because it's completely normal. Once week 10 and exams are over, just sit back, relax, and know that you put in all that effort and you deserve that break!

Hey you guys just remember that it is many of your first quarter at UCLA with everything being virtual. Try not to stress to much!

Coming back to this after the final, yeah it is definitely a worry for a lot of us. It's important to remember that it's ok to let it go, especially now that there is nothing that can be done to change it :).

At this point, I've stopped worrying and started taking everything at face value. The amount of time and work I've put in will be reflected in the grade, so there's not much to ruminate over.

Same! I'm also really worried because I can't calculate my current grade to see where it's currently at. I'm really nervous because the final is coming up in a couple of days, and I don't know how much wiggle room I have on the final in order to get a decent grade in the class.

yes, I'm honestly worried too and although we need a 50% in the class to pass, I still worry about what my final grade will be. I calculated what my final grade would be according to the syllabus so that should help with trying to see what your final grade would be.

Hey guys! Thank you for the hope! At this point I thinks its based on you know the material or you don't or your okay at it. Either way, i think studying is still very helpful especially since this final is more than both of the midterms! But goodluck to everyone on the final and hopefully to those who are taking chem 14B see you then!

it is less than 2 days before the final and i am extremely worried about my grade, considering how i did on the second one. at this point, i think all we can do is just study, try our best, and hope that we get the best outcome possible. but we also have to remember that grades don't define us. we are here because we worked hard to be!

Well said! My mom always tells me, "Just try your best and that's what matters."

The grading for this class doesn’t allow for much error so I totally worry about my grade all the time. I’m hoping we will all do better on the final so good luck today!
