Order to go through course materials
Hi, I know there are a lot of different ways to study for this course through Achieve weekly problems, textbook reading, textbook practice problems, lecture, discussion sections, and the Audio-Visual Focus-Topics. What is the order recommended for me to go through all these materials? Should I read textbook first, then audio-visual focus-topics, then go to lectures, etc.? Thank you!

Do the audio-visual focus-topics and go to lectures and discussion section at the same time.
Then use the eBook when you work through the problems listed in the syllabus.
The eBook has great detailed step-by-step examples related to the problems listed in the syllabus, and background reading to assist understanding and retaining the concepts and how to problem solve.

I was also wondering about effective study techniques for this class. Would watching lecture videos on Dr. Lavelle's website equate to sitting though lecture? I want to make sure I don't miss anything in lecture, and want to make sure I am reviewing the course material effectively.

Are the Audio-Visual Focus-Topics for every week like a preclass review, or is it just an overall high school chem review?

Re: Order to go through course materials
What's helpful for me is watching the audio-video-focus topics first, then complete the textbook reading, and right after complete the weekly achieve problems along with the textbook practice problems. Getting a sense of all that first before completing problems, prepares you to know how to solve any problems and what formulas to use. ALSO attending lectures and discussion is VERY helpful given the fact that you can ask questions. And the eBook is very helpful when it comes to solving problems! You don't necessarily have to do it in this order but as long as you do all, you should be successful.

I found watching the lecture videos before the actual lecture very useful! Solving the textbook problems also help you to know whether you know how to apply the concepts as well.

I think going to lecture, discussion, then homework is usually the best order but if you need extra help I'd highly recommend office hours rather than trying to figure it out on your own.

Hi!
I think you can do everything around the same time, but I would do the textbook problems last!
