Studying for tests/midterm

How do you guys usually study for our tests? Typically I just review the chapter/notes and do some practice problems. Is there another good way to review?

Dr. Lavelle said that the best way to study for tests is to make sure you can do all the homework problems. Also, on the class syllabus, it says that one of the questions on the test is from the homework problems.

I just do all the homework problems at least once, then look over them again in the days leading up to the test. Prof. Lavelle says that if you do all the homework problems you should be well-prepared for the test.

I do homework/ practice problems and UA peer sessions

I recommend also going to the peer learning sessions in which the UA has worksheets to prepare for the test. If you can't make it to those ones, I believe they post it on chemistry community, so you can try using those worksheets for practice as well.

I am planning on going back through all the homework problems as well as going through the questions that the UA posted on chemistry community for us.

Going to office hours to see if you really really know the material and be able to teach it to someone else. Doing all of the modules and homework problems, especially since one homework problem will be pulled and incorporated into the test.

I think the best way to study would be to help out your peers because it will reinforce your own learning. Also going over the modules and homework problems can be super helpful.

I would say going to step-up sessions has been super helpful to me since I haven't taken chem since sophomore year. The UA's can be a great help. Also try doing all the assessments that go along with Dr.Lavelle's videos on his website. These are great ways to test yourself and if you get a bad score you can just rewatch his video and try again.

I usually go over all the notes, do all the homework problems multiple times, get tutored, make study guide flashcards, and read the textbook.

I challenge myself to do the harder homework problems and when I can't solve one I look at notes and online videos for that section

Doing homework problems and maybe looking for past exams and just practice doing those as well. All in all, it's just practice.

I would also consider looking up videos on youtube or the ones that Dr. Lavelle has posted on the class website since I found those to be really helpful.

Personally, (I understand that a lot of people don't have enough time in their schedule to do so) I just try to do all the homework problems he assigns. They are pretty good at targeting the key concepts that we need to know for the tests. Also, I have seen on previous tests that he has used questions from the homework on tests. I think that these are very useful especially when you don't have time to do the study guide or just want practice on your own time. Especially with the solutions manual it is helpful because the problems are explained in detail and simplified for you to get.
