STEM clubs
Anyone have recommendations for STEM clubs to join that are active this fall? I know there are a lot of premed clubs, but I'd like to learn about more social-oriented clubs as well.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for but if you're interested in molecular and genetic research the International Circle of Genetics Studies seems like a really interesting organization! You can check out their instagram, @uclaicgs, to learn a bit about them and applications aren't due for a couple of weeks so you have time to look into it.

Hi! For a partly social aspect you could join the Collaboration in Undergraduate Research Enrichment Program. If interested in research they pair you with an undergraduate mentor and they do weekly seminars and workshops that are science-oriented. http://cureatucla.weebly.com/
Also, if you want a fun slightly science-based club experience, there are clubs like Bruins Fighting Pediatric Cancer and Project Sunshine which focus on bringing joy to kids in hospitals while educating people about pediatric illnesses/diseases. https://publicitybfpc.wixsite.com/bfpc , https://projectsunshine.org/volunteers/

These aren't just strictly STEM clubs but if you're looking for other clubs and activities there's a mega thread on reddit!

A great way to sort through all the STEM (and every other club) is to check out the @uclaeaf Instagram! They just highlighted every club on their page with details, application deadlines, and such.

I also have some recommendations: Bruins for Accessible Resources (BAR), Speak Out for Surgery (SOS), and Lavendar Health Alliance (LHA). These are all premed and social clubs, so they really try to make it a less competitive and more familial environment for their members. :)
