Feeling pretty good, it took a couple of weeks to kind of get everything organized and into a rhythm but now that I am getting used to the class, it is much more manageable. All the resources that Dr. Lavelle makes available for us are great and I am just beginning to make use of them and I regret not doing it immediately. I hope everyone else is doing well!

I’m definitely nottt doing well :) I hate school, and the online format makes it harder. I honestly just want this quarter to be over lol.

I'm honestly pretty happy with the way things are right now. I feel like I'm getting the hang of things, but my free time has definitely gone on a decline.

Hey!

I'm honestly behind on some lectures because I have 2 midterms this week so it's been really stressful. The quarter system is definitely something I'm not used to but it'll take some time! Good luck on midterms if you guys still have any!

So far I have kept my head above the water, but man this quarter is a ton of work. It feels like the only thing I do is work all day. But besides that, Chemistry class itself is going pretty well!

Not going to lie, the online format is honestly very depressing. With that being said, this class, in particular, is so much better than all my other classes. I feel like this class is very accomodating given all the changes from in-person classes to online classes. Hope everyone is drinking water and keeping themselves sane!

SAME but at least we are getting through it. I found that it might help to study with others so if you're down to study together just let me know :) (send me a message on the groupme)

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed right now but I think it'll calm down a little bit before the quarter ends. Definitely not loving the amount of writing I have to do for my two GE classes as a stem major lol.

Not stellar because I took this class for funzies but the way things are looking I might get a B, which is a dreadful thought. But i'm willing to stay optimistic because you can do anything if you set your mind to it.

I'm doing alright, just trying to find a healthy balance between school and my personal life. It's been pretty difficult to motivate myself with school being online, but I've established a pretty consistent routine that works for me

I am finding it a little bit depressing that there are two more quarters left...I have to go through this two whole more times this year. This quarter has already felt so long! Kind of sad and stressed. I am trying to find ways to take care of myself, but am lacking.

Counting down the days to Christmas!! The online quarter is making it really difficult for me to stay focused and for me to maintain asome good mental health, but I'm trying my hardest! Ready for another start next quarter.

Some weeks are great, but some weeks I'm super stressed. Like this week I have 2 midterms (and one of them is two parts so it feels like 3), but last week I was doing absolutely nothing. But like someone else said I'm already counting down to Christmas!

Even though I'm relatively on top of my work, the fact that everything is online and I'm stuck at home is making me so unmotivated. Especially after my midterms, I felt a little burnt out. That being said I hope I can finish this quarter off strong!

Hey! I'm honestly really struggling, especially with this class. I only took the basic high school chemistry and took calculus instead of physics, so I find this content very confusing and difficult. I have never struggled with a class like this and I feel like it's even worse through online.

Not the best, the online system makes everything a bit more draining but maybe that's just me. I'm definitely getting used to it though but saying that I still have a bit of catching up to do.

I'm doing alright, I still struggle a bit with managing my time but I get all my work done and for this class so far a lot of the material we've covered has been review from high school which is nice.

The transition from the semester system in high school to the fast-paced quarter system in college has been a pretty difficult to get used to, but so far I am doing pretty well in my classes. I hope things have been going great for you as well, cheers to making it to week six!!

Hey! Thanks so much for this post. Honestly, as a second year it's felt like the quarter has gone by faster! But also I am far more drained than I was as a first year, which is surprising especially since I don't have to deal with the hills and stairs every day. But this week was exceptionally mentally draining due to the election.

Aw, I love this thread. I definitely could be doing better. This is one of the most stressful quarters I've had at UCLA I would say, especially with the entire year being online on top of the sociopolitical climate around us. I think I just try to take things day by day instead of stressing so far into the future. I hope you're doing well, too! Only 5 weeks left, then finals, we all got this.

I am pretty stressed as well with multiple midterms and large amounts of homework. Although, I like to keep a positive mindset because it helps me get through the quarter and effectively study and do my work.

I really am not loving the online school format, but I do like the flexibility that comes with it. I do feel like there's a lot more on you to remember when assignments are do, which is not ideal. Can't wait to have in person classes again!

This is such a nice thread. I didn't realize how hard it would be not to be able to collaborate in person for classes like this. It really affects my entire understanding of the material and I think I took that for granted. But I really appreciate all the effort that has been made by the instructors to get as close as they can to those in-person sessions and make them accessible to students!

I'm gonna be real, the months of no school and the online format makes focusing on school rough. Hopefully I'll be able to pick it up at the end of the quarter.

One thing that is hard for me with online school is the fact that collaboration with other students is minimal. I'd love to be able to have study groups and discussions with you all in person and am bummer it's not possible. I'm looking forward to the day when that's something we can do again! The online format makes it difficult for me to focus and really channel my motivation into productivity.

To be honest, this week hasn't been going that great because I'm trying to study for multiple midterms, attend as many office hours as I can, finish writing an essay as well as stay up to date with all the lectures, homework, and labs so it's a lot to juggle. Hopefully it will all be worth it though and we can finally get a break soon. I wish I could collaborate with more of my peers more but it is what it is.

I'm enjoying a lot of aspects of online school, such as spending more time with family and the flexibility that comes with it. Less structure has led to my sleep schedule being a work in progress though.

I would say overall the course is manageable. There's not much homework, only 3 big tests, and the discussion section is kind of optional. It doesn't take much time like some other courses I am taking. However, things are becoming more and more difficult as I expect Hopefully we'll go through these materials easily!

Adjusting to the quarter system has been different. I feel like with all of my classes I'm always getting ready for a midterm or final! But I like that this class is structured with the same type of homework every week so I never feel like I'm forgetting something.

I'm doing okay! I feel like I've gotten a little more familiar with the quarter system now and overall, school hasn't been too bad. I do have to say though that I'm starting to feel the burnout these past few weeks, but I've been trying to make space in my daily schedule for some me time so that's helped a lot. I'm also trying to motivate myself by counting down the weeks until Winter Break so there's that too :)

This time last year I felt like I was having the time of my life with school and fun and it flew by, now it feels like its week 20 with the online format and having to be at home. I can't help but feel like I'd be much better off continuing this chem series when classes are in person again.

I'm lucky to have my midterms decently spread out among my classes, but the pace is definitely picking up. The content we are starting to go over in class is surpassing my previous knowledge so I've been getting a little frantic about keeping up. The concepts after Midterm 1 are not sticking with me too well.

It's definitely more difficult because we are starting to get into the chemistry that wasn't as fundamental to high school chemistry. Before, I could kind of breeze through it because it was familiar but now we are learning stuff that I hardly remember or that my school didn't go over as thoroughly.

It's for sure starting to get overwhelming, it feels like the quarter is going by a lot quicker than last year. I hope everyone else is holding up and doing well, self care is so important right now.

I feel the same way. This is my hardest class this quarter. I know for some people it has been relatively easy and manageable, but it has been a struggle to understand things. Just remember that you are definitely not alone in your feelings, and you can always reach out to me or others.

Aw thanks for checking in thats so sweet! Honestly, im struggling lol especially with my Physics class. Things are difficult since its hard to interact and meet new people. Even clubs aren't as interactive. This class is honestly my favorite class this quarter and if anybody wants to make a group chat or make a new friend im here!

Thanks for asking this question, I am honestly bummed out because there is so many assignments that I can't even leave my room, and it's become so repetitive. College is supposed to be a balance of social and academic, but it's purely academic for me. Last year this time around was not super great for me, but I prefer it over this situation.
