Final Format
Hi there,
I know this may be a little early, but does anyone know the general format of the final exam and the allotted time for it? Just trying to get a sense of what it will be like. Thanks!

Re: Final Format
Based on other people's posts, I'm assuming it's going to be pretty similar to our midterms! The only thing I might expect different is just more questions because I think it's going to be cumulative. But in terms of multiple choice and respondus, it's probably pretty similar.

Re: Final Format
To go along with the other responses, I would say that it is probably similar to the format of our first two midterms with similar wording for the questions, however, the only difference will be that it is cumulative.

Re: Final Format
Do we know if it will also be all multiple choice if it is similar to the midterms? Thanks!
Re: Final Format
It should be all multiple choices. Does anyone know if it's going to be all or nothing again?

Re: Final Format
The believe the final will have the same structure as the past 2 midterms, just with more questions and more time.

I think the final will be very similar to the past two midterms we took. It will probably have more time and more questions.

I know that we will have more time, but does anyone know how many questions the final will be?

Re: Final Format
I am also wondering if the final is going to equal amounts of MT1 and MT2 content or if it will be more heavily based on topics towards the end of the quarter.

Re: Final Format
Not sure if it will be more heavily based on the topics towards the end of the quarter, but we should be familiar with all content from the entire quarter because it is cumulative. The format should all be MC though.

Re: Final Format
I believe we'll have more time on the final than we had for the midterms and it will be more questions since it's covering everything we've learned throughout the quarter. I believe the format will still be multiple choice!
Re: Final Format
When are we supposed to take the final? Is the final open for 24 hours or is it only open during a specific time window?

I believe it is only open during a specific time window. The final is on December 13th from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm (At least that's what is says on the ucla page).

Sunday, December 13th. I believe it will be open from around 11:30 to 2:30. Also, if anyone finds out how many questions it will be and whether there will be partial credit, please lmk.Sarah_Hoffman_2H wrote:What date is the final on?

Does anyone know if Dr. Lavelle is going to unlock the two previous midterms--so we can review the problems?

I'm not sure, I think that as of right now the only way to see the previous midterm questions is going to office hours with your TA and even then they'll just read out the questions instead of showing them
Re: Final Format
They haven't mentioned how it will be proctored but they did say that it is during a specific time.

Is there a deadline to review the midterms?

It depends on your TA, but I don't think so. Just schedule an appointment with yours to go over your midterms individually before the final.

I think the format and type of questions will be very similar to the midterms but with just a larger volume of problems.

Re: Final Format
Will our TA actually go over with us the previous midterms we did if we schedule the appointment? My TA had mentioned something about not being able to view them or something.

According to the Syllabus, he wants to do something like that in case we have questions about the exam while taking it.

Re: Final Format
Does anyone know if we will be taking it in breakout rooms like we did for our midterm? How are we planning on zooming and using respondus?

Re: Final Format
So in summary, the final is 180 pts, which means more questions than midterms, and will last 1.5 hour. The format should be pretty similar to midterms: multiple choices, just cumulative. However, I do wonder if people living in other time zones can have an alternative plan.
