Final Exam Tips
Does anyone have any tips on how to study for the final? I'm having a bit of trouble trying to learn the new material and review the old material and I was wondering if anyone has any helpful tips. Thank you :)

Re: Final Exam Tips
I feel the same way. Personally, I like going back through the old sapling homework because they give detailed solutions and how to solve them. I also think the textbook problems are a great way to practice and make sure you understand the concepts.

Re: Final Exam Tips
I've found that solving practice problems helps me the most, so I have been looking over all the Sapling assignments.

Re: Final Exam Tips
I found that the UA sessions are super helpful because some of them use old test examples. Also the textbook is pretty good too.

Re: Final Exam Tips
Sapling HW, all the textbook problems in the outlines, and UA worksheets are all great practice as many times, homework problems will be on exams! Also going over notes and such to refresh concepts is helpful. Hope this helps!

Re: Final Exam Tips
I am going to go through Sapling, textbook problems, and UA worksheets. I personally wouldn't go through too much in one day, spread it out! I like to dedicate a few days to do the textbook problems, the sapling problems, and worksheets. My main focus is typically the textbook since it provides a wide variety of problems.

Re: Final Exam Tips
I personally find the UA sessions most helpful because they give us problems similar to those on their past tests. I also go through the textbook problems and sapling homework. For me, practicing a bunch of problems is most beneficial.

The UA sessions are very helpful, but also I would advise against cramming. Start studying a long time before the exam to avoid time being an issue. BTW Hannah Chew's step up sessions on Tuesdays are extremely helpful.

Re: Final Exam Tips
I feel like I have the most trouble with the conceptual questions. Does anyone have a good way of understanding the qualitative information?
Re: Final Exam Tips
Using this as a reference as I begin to study for the final. All answers seem to be extremely informative.

For conceptual things, I find that re-writing my notes is a good way to revisit topics and get a better understanding of them. Similar to this, I like writing out explanations of concepts after reviewing. So as a 'prompt' I might tell myself to explain hybridization, and then write out my explanation. Even if it seems like a lot of work, it really helps me get a solid understanding of concepts and think of questions I might not have had before. Hope this helps!

Re: Final Exam Tips
I find the textbook problems super helpful, but before I start a section I like to look through the textbook and my notes and write down some of the key concepts for that topic. Once I'm done, I check my answers and figure out what topics I struggle with and need to focus on the most.

Re: Final Exam Tips
I tend to review my notes I wrote again and then watch Organic Chemistry Tutor videos on topics I need more insight on. For the final exam, I'm focusing on understanding the new material first. Then, I'm going through my notes from previous units. After reviewing all my notes, I also redo the Textbook outline problems(especially the more difficult/longer ones). The UA worksheets also help since they use some past exam questions!

I'm going to go over the textbook problems, reread the text, and look at old UA worksheets.

Re: Final Exam Tips
I tend to do all the practice problems assigned and then try to explain answers from sapling. I like to read the book to understand topics conceptually

I think I am going to review textbook and Sapling homework problems to review for the final. I also want to attend more UA sessions.

Re: Final Exam Tips
Since we are still learning new material, I try to balance studying past topics and doing the assigned work for each week. I space out my studying so I don't feel overwhelmed and do past textbook problems to review.

I'm probably going to go over Sapling problems and review some textbook problems that I don't feel completely comfortable with. These tips are all super helpful!

Re: Final Exam Tips
I am going to redo the textbook problems since he pulls his questions from there. I am also going to read through the sapling questions and answers. I also have heard that the UAs give out practice exams and they might be giving out practice final exams.

Re: Final Exam Tips
I usually try to go to the ua sessions throughout the week and most importantly the ones before the final/midterm because they do review and hopefully lavelle does an official review session for the final.
